We see color, lots of color!
The simple, yet colorful, design of our Big 1 Dots Birthday Girl Decorations will make setting up your party table and decorating the room(s) you will be using for the party super easy! Once you nail down the basics, like what day you are having the party, where it will be held, and getting the invitations out, then you can start thinking about the really fun details, like how to set the table, decorate the room and what kinds of food and activities you’ll have!
- Balloons are an easy way to add big, bright pops of color in any room and the shape of our solid-color balloons in coordinating shades of pink, green and purple, fit the ‘dot’ theme perfectly! Mix in a few of our Big 1 Dots Birthday Girl 18” Foil Balloons and you’ve got powerful punches of color that make a big impact!
- Another way to add lots of color without breaking the bank is to select one or two colors of our coordinating streamers, twisting them together, and draping them from corner to corner across the ceiling. By combining streamers with other decorative accessories, like our Big 1 Dots Letter Banner, Decorative Garland, or Hanging Cutout decorations, you’ll introduce lots of color into the room, easily, affordably, and without hardly any effort!
- For your main table, or any other tables for the party, we suggest combing the Big 1 Dots Birthday Girl Decorations table ware with our selection of solid color table ware so that your table doesn’t appear too busy. Which items you pick is all up to your party needs and personal preference; but we have everything you need, all in one place, and very affordably priced!
Plan activities that little girls will love!
First birthday parties are typically attended by family and close friends, with other small children often in attendance, so you may have to tailor your activities to suit the ages of the children present. We have some simple, fun crafts and activities to keep little ones occupied …. at least for a little while!
- Little girls love dress up, so let your little guests make their own ‘necklace.’ Our version is little kid friendly – easy for you to assemble and easy for little fingers to decorate. To make each ‘necklace’ you will need either a large circle punch (found at arts & crafts stores in the scrapbooking section), or a circle template you’ve made. Using construction or craft paper, cut out a circle for each child. Punch a hole in the circle for embroidery floss or string; insert a mini grommet to reinforce the hole. Write each child’s name on a circle and provide stickers and crayons for the kids to decorate their own necklace. Add a piece of string and tie the necklace together. The kids can wear their necklaces for the duration of the party! (If you will also be having little boys in attendance, select craft paper in more ‘boyish’ colors, like blue, red, green, and yellow, and have available for them stickers in themes more suited to a boy’s taste, like: fire trucks/police cars, race cars, construction trucks and equipment, pictures of animals, and sports-related stickers.)
- Another fun activity is connect-the-dots! Print out copies of connect-the-dots pictures (easily found online) and provide each child with a picture and color crayons. If the kids are too little for dot-to-dots, they will enjoy coloring their own picture to take home. Just set out some paper and crayons and let them create their own masterpiece. Adult supervision would be helpful, so see if you can have an adult guest or two nearby to supervise the activity, so you don’t have to.
A new take on birthday treats:
You don’t always have to serve birthday cake at a party! Use your imagination, and our suggestions, to mix things up! We have two ideas that are sure to leave your little guests giggling in delight!
- Have a ‘decorate your own sundae’ station! Freeze pre-scooped ice cream in colors that coordinate with the Big 1 Dots Birthday Girl Decorations; our suggestion is strawberry and vanilla ice cream, or lime, orange or raspberry sherbet. Place one scoop into a paper bowl along with a spoon for each child. Provide toppings like whipped cream, marshmallow crème, strawberry sauce, maraschino cherries and small confetti sprinkles. Be sure to have some grown-up hands to help with the decorating – it’s going to be messy! You might want to keep some baby wipes close by to wipe sticky hands and faces!
- Consider serving cake pops in lieu of birthday cake! Quickly gaining popularity on the party circuit, cake pops are the newest thing in confectionary delights! Purchase a cake pop mold (either online or at your local kitchen supply store or big box retailer) and bake up a batch or two of cake pops. Decorate each cake pop by dipping it in melted chocolate or covering in frosting and embellishing each with sprinkles (if you can coordinate your frosting and sprinkles with your party decorations, all the better). Purchase little metal buckets painted in colors that match your décor (These can be found in dollar stores, or at arts & crafts supply stores). Fill each tin with pink, purple, orange and lime green jelly beans. Place a cake pop stick in each cake pop, tie each with a ribbon and arrange in the jelly-bean filled buckets! At the end of the party, you can send each guest home with a bucket of jelly beans and a few cake pops – that is, if there are any leftovers!
Nice Idea From Our Photo Contest
One of our clients sent in a photo of her birthday party showing how she created a greeting table for a Big 1 Dots party celebration. She set up a table where all the guests could grab a party hat, blowout, and bag of treats - check out how she made this easy for her guests:
