Noah’s Ark Baby Shower Planning Tips & Ideas
Noah’s Ark is quickly becoming a very popular baby shower theme with new moms everywhere! Who wouldn’t love all the delightful animals that adorn most Noah’s Ark themed party supplies? The well-known tale of Noah's Ark is an especially nice theme for a religious friend's baby shower.
Noahs Ark Party Decorations:
Many of the Noah’s Ark themed party decorations feature adorably sweet animals represented in pairs on Noah’s Ark. Decorating with cuddly, cute animals is the perfect direction to go in for a baby shower for either gender, or especially so if the mom-to-be is keeping it a surprise!
- Diaper Cake Centerpiece:
A diaper cake is a wonderfully creative gift for an expectant mother. It is a collection of diapers (either disposable or cloth) rolled and stacked together to resemble a traditional tiered cake. There can be 1, 2, 3 or more tiers. The tiers of diaper cakes are embellished with baby care items such as baby bottles, bibs, bath wash, lotions, pacifiers, baby socks, toys, stuffed animals and more. Diaper cakes are becoming increasingly popular, not only as a gift for the new mom, but as part of the party decorations! Why not consider using one as your table centerpiece? Original and imaginative, they give your baby shower that extra personal touch. They can be created to match any theme and detailed instructions on how to assemble a diaper cake can be found online along with images you can view as you follow the instructions. If you aren’t the crafty sort, you can also purchase assembled diaper cakes, like our lovable King of the Jungle Diaper Cake. Playing on the animal theme, our cuddly lion is the perfect animal to represent all the majestic animals that God created! Once the baby shower is over, it can be presented to the expectant mom who will be so appreciative because she will use every single ‘ingredient’ in the diaper cake!
- Animals, animals everywhere!
Our new line of Melissa & Doug plush toys fit the Noah’s Ark theme perfectly! The ferociously furry Melissa and Doug Plush Leroy Lion, the endearing Melissa and Doug Plush Sterling Elephant and the sweet Melissa and Doug Plush Mischief Monkey would look so cute greeting your guests at the door, hanging out by the cake, or swinging from a streamer ‘vine’! When the shower is over, the mom-to-be can take home her furry friends to meet the new baby! Think of creative ways you can use any stuffed animals at your party venue. Since this is a Noah’s Ark event, make sure you pick up two of each!
- Bunches of balloons!
Balloons are an easy and inexpensive way to add color quickly and easily to any party room. We have a large selection of Mylar balloons to choose from in all sorts of animal shapes that coordinates wonderfully with your animal theme; Jungle Lion, Jungle Elephant, Jungle Monkey, Jungle Zebra, Jolly Giraffe, and Jolly Tiger! Choose just one or choose them all! Mix the animal balloons with our solid-colored latex balloons to create balloon bouquets to tie to chair backs, place at your entry way, anchored onto tables or tethered randomly around the room. Since Noah had the animals arrive on the ark in two by twos, you can pair-up the balloons by species to recreate this scene.
- Lit candles for ambience:
Create soft lightening by placing our Noah and Friends Votive Candle Holder or Born to be Wild Animal Candles at each place setting, or place several around the party venue; on mantels, shelves, coffee tables or serving tables.
Fun Noah’s Ark animal themed shower games:
While it is not required that every baby shower have games, they are a great ice-breaker and can be lots of fun. It is a good idea to play games if the guests do not know each other well, so when planning your baby shower, take into account who will be attending, how well everyone knows each other and whether the group would enjoy playing a game or two. Typically, you play 2-4 games at a baby shower, depending on how much time each game takes and the number of guests in attendance. Usually, the winner of each game is usually given a small gift from the hostess as a prize. For the games, have guests team up Noah’s Ark Style ("two by two") in pairs. The guests can work together, and develop new friendships while enjoying a wonderful day of memories and celebration.
For our Baby Animal Name Game and Animal Guessing Game, remember to have enough pens and game papers for all the guests. It is also helpful if you give each guest a stable writing surface, like a magazine, for the guests to place their paper on while they write. Pens that don't work are common and tend to slow down the party, so test out pens before they are needed. If you buy new pens, roll them around a bit until the ink begins to flow.
- Animal Cracker Guessing Game:
Using a clear glass jar or container (with lid), fill it up with animal crackers or “Mother’s” animal cookies with the colorful frosting and sprinkles. Replace the lid and tie the jar or container off with a colorful bow. Have each guest guess how many animal crackers are in the jar. The one who guesses the closest wins the jar!
- Baby Animal Name Game:
You can either print this game off the internet or make it yourself. All you need to do is come up with 15-20 adult animals and their corresponding baby names. For example: bear – cub, cow – calf. When creating your game, provide the name of the adult animal and leave a spot for the guest to fill in what the appropriate baby name for that animal is. Mix-in some lesser known animals to see who really knows their stuff! Set a time limit for everyone and the guest who guesses the most baby animal names correctly wins a prize. A cute idea would be to present the winner with our Noah’s Ark Design Candle. It ties in perfectly with your Noah’s Ark theme!
- Animal Facts Guessing Game:
This is another fun game that guests can play as an ice breaker for the party. In quiz format, write up fill-in-the-blank, true/false, and multiple choice questions about random animal facts. For example: What is the smartest breed of dog? Who survives longer without water – a camel or a rat? You can have guests play individually or break into teams. To get questions and answers, simply do a Google search for ‘fun animal facts’ or ‘animal facts for kids’ and you’ll easily find materials for your game. Winner(s) get a fun prize like our Noah and Friends Key Chain Favor.
